Julianna Southall Glumac Collection, Part II: Furniture & Decorative Arts

Turner Auctions + Appraisals is pleased to present the Julianna Southall Glumac Collection, Part II, featuring a diverse and eclectic selection of furniture and decorative arts, mostly from the 18th-20th centuries. Mrs. Glumac was owner and curator of Southall Antiques, one of San Francisco's finest antique dealers for 20 years.

This online auction offers and intriguing array of over 165 lots. Artworks from the 19th and 20th centuries feature oils, watercolors, gouaches, mixed media, ink and lithographs; artists include R. F. Merrill and René Foidart. Furniture pieces include elegant side chairs and armchairs from the 18th-early 20th century, a 19th-century mahogany dining table, French and Chinese side tables, trumeau and Neoclassical-style mirrors, a seven-panel screen, and two giant clam shells. From Japan are a selection of tansu chests, painted doors and kimonos. From China are cloisonné bowls, lidded jars, cinnabar items, decorative figures, miniatures, and a painting on silk. Other items include sets of decorative pillows; groupings of art glass and paperweights; numerous crystal pieces, including glasses and a chandelier; desk, table, floor and altar lamps; Oscar de la Renta plates; 19th-century bronze figures and French clock; tableware including Noritake and Haviland; a Meissen ice bucket; vintage rugs; tole items; a miniature sextant; silver plate items; and more. An extensive selection of art and design books and antique volumes are available. Items from several other collectors round out the sale.

The Julianna Southall Glumac auction, Part II, includes offerings from her private collection and select items from her exquisitely curated shop. Acquired from her many travels at home and abroad for dealers and markets all over the United States and Europe, each piece was selected with an eye towards elegance and exceptional provenance. The collection includes items from a variety of American, European and Asian historical periods.
